I was on the program for 17 years. Was an addict, on the street, in and out of prison most of my life. Didn't know any other life, working with the counselors wasn't easy. Not because of them but because of myself. Learning another life was hard but doable. They never gave up on me, dedicated people. Trust, fear of a different life, the unknown I felt maybe it was all a waste of time. (They didn't!) I have been successfully off methadone for 9 years. Life is good, my son's are in my life, I didn't raise them but we are good. I have 9 grandchildren. Who would of thought. I am living life and appreciating my freedom. I had to get out of my way and take what the program offered. Thanks to those that were there, those there now, holding the doors open for all who want the help.
